Launch of the “Romania of Knowledge” project

0

The Romanian Academy of Scientists, the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest launch a national project “Romania of Knowledge” on 14 May 2024, 14.00, in the Aula of the Central University Library “Carol I”.

The project “Romania of Knowledge” is dedicated to the development of the country through education, science, research and technology, vectors of progress and evolution of the economy, society and civilization. The project aims to create a national framework for debate, a think-tank that brings together representative personalities in each field involved, from home and abroad, scientists, researchers, academics, experts and specialists, decision-makers and policy-makers, a synergy of creative and innovative minds. In this elite forum of ideas and solutions, subsumed under the objective of sustainable development, fundamental areas and themes for the process of sustainable development of Romania through knowledge will be addressed.

The thematic areas and coordinates on which the “Romania of Knowledge” project is structured are the following:

  1. Education; Research, Innovation;
  2. Communications, information technology and artificial intelligence;
  3. Efficient and sustainable development; Re-industrialisation;
  4. Efficient and organic farming;
  5. Health;
  6. Culture, civilisation, spirituality;
  7. Energy and mineral resources;
  8. Human resources; Social policies;
  9. Ecology, Environment, Climate change;
  10. Defence, public order and national security.

Each area within the Project structure will constitute a thematically focused panel and framework, coordinated by one or two leading scientific personalities, emblematic of the respective field. Each panel will organise “analysis and reflection groups” by sub-domain, which will meet periodically to carry out their work according to their own agenda, framed within the overall Project Programme. The working groups are open to specialists from all academies established by law, from prestigious universities, from the Romanian Parliament and other public institutions.

Debates, scientific meetings, symposia and conferences will take place within each panel and focus group, and the most valuable ideas, conclusions and solutions will be synthesized and disseminated through published materials or in volumes, which will also be distributed to decision-makers in central and local public administration institutions and the Romanian Parliament.

Prof. Dr. Gheorghe Moroșanu – Department of Mathematics, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, full member of AOSR, Mathematical Sciences Section, launched in 2017 the Romanian Itinerant Seminar on Mathematical Analysis and Applications (SIRAMA): http://cs.ubbcluj.ro/rismaa.

Five successful editions have been held so far (Cluj-Napoca, 2018; Constanta, 2019; Alba-Iulia, 2021; Brasov, 2022; Craiova, 2023) and this year the 6th edition will take place, also in Cluj-Napoca (30-31 May 2024).

This itinerant seminar, with two sessions per year, under the coordination of AOSR, will be extended to all areas of mathematics plus applications (instead of “mathematical analysis and applications”) and will be called SEMINAR ITINERANT ROMÂNESC DE MATEMATICĂ ȘI APLICATIONS (SIRMA) (in English, ROMANIAN ITINERANT SEMINAR ON MATHEMATICS AND ITS APPLICATIONS (RISMA).

Participants in SIRMA/RISMA will be members of the Mathematical Sciences Section of AOSR, as well as other researchers interested in mathematics and its applications, Romanian or foreign. The papers resulting from this travelling seminar will be published in Ann. Acad. Rom. Sci., Ser. Math. Appl.

The Romanian Academy of Scientists announces with sadness the passing away, on April 25, 2024, of Dr. ec. Susana Geangalău, full member of the Romanian Academy of Scientists and president of the Ecoforest Neamt Association.

A complex personality, Susana Geangalău, born on 29 October 1932, attended the Faculty of General Economics, Political Economy and Planning Department, at ASE, Bucharest (1960-1965), and was awarded a diploma in industrial economics. Between 1971 and 1978, he studied for a PhD at ASE Bucharest, Faculty of Economics of Industry, Construction and Transport, and in 1978 he defended his PhD thesis entitled “Comparative study on the economic efficiency of forms of material cointerests of workers applied in the cement and asbestos-cement products industry”, obtaining the scientific title of PhD in economics. Subsequently, he participated in various forms of specialization and training, organized by the PHARE program.

Among the areas of scientific expertise, the following can be highlighted: General and area-based management, Drawing up and implementation of financing projects, Economic and financial analysis, Drawing up development strategies and plans, Economic and social scientific research, Ergonomic organisation, Drawing up and implementation of vocational training programmes: courses in accordance with OG 129/2000 through formal, non-formal, informal and apprenticeship courses.

The basic aims of the association ranged from greening the Bistrita Valley to teaching employees of the Neamt Chamber of Commerce to do European projects. Collaboration between the two institutions has been achieved through the establishment of the profession of ergonomist – a remarkable effort, made possible thanks to a team of university professors, scientists, economists, engineers, doctors and psychologists from universities, research institutes, ministries and professional associations, who succeeded in updating the nomenclature on the classification of occupations in Romania.

The great merit of Susana Geangalău is that she managed to change the ways and modalities of approaching the activities in the Civil Society Organizations in Romania, so that they can acquire the transformation in order to achieve superior, modern, sustainable results, to mark a significant progress in their evolution. Digital automated manufacturing in the perspective of Industry 4.0

0

In the programme of scientific activities for the year 2024, the Information Science and Technology Section of the Romanian Academy of Scientists invites you to the Conference “Digital automated manufacturing control in the perspective of Industry 4.0”.

The conference takes place online on Tuesday 30 April 2024, starting at 18:00. The conference is supported by a research team from the Faculty of Automatics and Computers, Polytechnic University of Bucharest, coordinated by Professor Dr. Ing. Theodor Borangiu.

The presentation reviews architectures and topologies of digital automated manufacturing control in the perspective of the Industry of the Future (I4.0) defined in the last decade, based on which it proposes a cyber-physical system solution in which physical manufacturing entities virtualized by holons become tightly coupled interacting to meet global goals of efficiency, robustness and agility. Research includes new techniques for: extended digital modelling for deep interoperability (digital twins), service orientation, product intelligence, semi-heterarchical control, streaming of large volumes of data and self-driving cloud services. Contributions in this area are exemplified on an intelligent manufacturing management system platform developed by the research collective.
