“Difficult” personalities are a topic of interest in both professional and personal life, manifesting themselves in strong character traits that can negatively influence interpersonal relationships. This conference aims to explore in depth the nature of these personalities, from the perspective of subclinical and clinical typologies, with a particular focus on understanding salient traits such as narcissistic traits.
Participants will have the opportunity to investigate the psychodynamic factors underlying these behaviors, analyzing the defense mechanisms, personality structure and psychological resources that determine specific reactions in various situations. The conference will address key questions such as: what defines a ‘difficult’ personality? How can we translate and interpret their behaviors? What are the most effective strategies for managing relationships with these personalities, especially in crisis contexts?
Through a sound theoretical approach, combined with case studies and practical examples, this conference will facilitate a deep understanding of the dynamics of heightened personalities. The ultimate goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to appropriately interact and effectively manage relationships with individuals who exhibit subclinical or clinical personality traits.
